Some words sound alike but have different spellings and meanings. The words "tale" and "tail" sound alike but have different meaning and spellings.

Read the following sentences.  Decide if the correct word (tale or tail) is used in each sentence.
If the the word is correct put a "C" by the sentence.  If the word is not correct put a "NC" by the sentence

____1.  The cat's tail was as long as his body.

____2.  That was the funniest tail about a dragon I ever heard.

____3.  The farmer told the tale of the mysterious crop.

____4.  In the tail, "The Princess and the Pea", the princess had difficulty sleeping.

____5.  The mouse chased his own tail as he ran in circles.

Using the words "tale" and "tail".  Write five sentences.  Underline the word "tale" or "tail" in each sentence.
