What is a savannah? A savannah or savanna is a tropical or subtropical grassland. These are important pasture lands. They vary from open canopy forests, with grassy undergrowth, to mostly grasses.
Where are savannahs? Most are in Africa, but some are in South America.
What is the climate? Savannahs have a rainy period during the summer. The winter is dry.
What is the average rainfall? The average yearly rainfall in African savannahs range from 100-400mm (4-16 inches).
What are some of the animals that live in the savannah? Elephants, giraffes, hippopotamus, hyenas, kangaroo, lions, zebras, etc.
