Scarecrow Fun

You will need:
pipe cleaners
material scraps
pieces of hay or straw, or yarn
one small Styrofoam ball
I paper or Styrofoam cup
Dirt
A couple of bean seeds.

DIRECTIONS:

For Scarecrow:

  1. Use the pipe cleaners to form a body shape; body, arms, legs, and neck.
  2. Stick the neck into the Styrofoam cup.
  3. Attach hay (straw or yarn) to the ends of arms and legs.
    You can use string or glue
  4. Use the material to add clothing and a hat.
  5. Draw on a face with markers.

For Plant:

  1. Fill the cup half way with dirt.
  2. Put in two or three bean seeds.
  3. Fill with more dirt.
  4. Water and place in sunny area.
  5. Continue to water as needed.

Stick the Scarecrow into the Cup.  Watch the plant grow around it.

For fun use a long pipe cleaner and stick it into the dirt.  Add a small crow on the end.

Parents and Teachers:  This is a good place to talk about what plants need to grow.
