 LANGUAGE ARTS: LISTENING--Antarctica by

Helen Cowcher (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1990) or any other non-fiction book to fit theme.

 

Goals:

Children will identify new vocabulary.

Children will obtain facts by listening to non-fiction story.

Children will complete "Informational Book Report."

 

Materials:

-books on cassette

-pencils

-"Informational Book Report" from abcteach.com

 

Activity:

Children will listen to book on tape. They will "roundrobin" new vocabulary words heard and then facts learned. Students then record responses on "Informational Book Report."
