Rubbings

A rubbing is easy and found to make.

You will need:

crayons with the paper taken off

paper

items from nature: leaves, flower petals, bark

man-made items: comb, coins, cut-out paper patterns.

Place your item on a table covered with newspaper.

Put the paper over the item.

Using the long side of the crayon rub over the item while holding the paper down. (Babysitters, hold the paper while the child rubs the crayon.)

Continue until you get the desired color and design.

Move the item slightly and rub again.  Patterns can overlap.

You can add additional items to the same page or do the whole page with one shape that overlaps.

Have fun!
