  Quill Feather Pen

Materials Needed: 

Directions:

 This first part is for adults to do. 

1. Take the feather and cut the tip at a slant.

Then:

1.  Put some tempera paint thinned with a little bit of water in a dish or container. 
2. Dip quill in paint and write. Explain that this is how people once wrote.
3.  Let your child practice with some scrap paper  first. 
4. It will take a few tries to learn to load the quill correctly.
5.  Be sure to let the writing dry before you handle the paper.

 You can make cards for different occasions using this method and send them to family and friends.
