  • "Imagine you are in line at Ellis Island. What are some of the things you are thinking about?"... These seven writing prompts (available both with lined and illustrated paper or all on one page for students to answer in their own journals) are a fantastic enhancement to our Ellis Island materials.
  • Explains what a simile is, gives some examples, and then encourages students to write and illustrate their own similes about their state.
  • Part of the abcteach character-education series, which introduces children to challenging life skills decisions and asks them, "What would you do if this happened to you?" This one addresses helping others.
  • This 16 page vacation planner is a great project to help students understand the process of planning and organizing a vacation. Whether plans are for a low-budget camping trip in a nearby state park, or a fantastic voyage to a faraway country, students will have fun planning budgets, etc., with this unit.
