  • Food is part of a country's culture. Each country is known for certain foods. Research the foods that are popular in Mexico and answer the questions.
  • Three recipes: Johnnycakes, squash cornbread, and cornbread. These easy recipes would adapt well for reading comprehension lessons, math (double the recipe!), science (how does boiling water affect the flour?), as well as the life skill of cooking. These recipes are part of our Colonial America unit.
  • Flour, water, cream of tartar... carry a baggie of this super easy play dough and some cookie cutters, and the kids can express themselves!
  • Students practice fraction skills by doubling, tripling, and halving recipes of their choice.
  • Read the recipe and answer the comprehension questions.
