abcteach June Newsletter

  June 2003

Hi Everyone,

For those of you teaching in year-round schools, homeschooling, or still in session this month, we want to let you know that abcteach will be adding new pages throughout the summer. Be sure to check in often for special summer-themed activities, to make sure you and your students get the most out of every lesson.
Summer vacation is here for many of you. We hope that you will enjoy your time off! However, do not forget to stay in touch with abcteach. We are already thinking ahead towards September, and will be posting plenty of great new lessons and units to help start the next school year on the right foot. It is never too early to start planning ahead!

Write for abcteach!

Do you have a great lesson (or several great lessons) that you'd like to share with other teachers? Don't keep it to yourself!
abcteach is constantly expanding, and we are always looking for new material. We would love to hear from teachers who are interested in writing high quality teaching materials for grades K-10.

A FREE tool for creative language teachers  at  Teachers-pet.org

A computer savvy English teacher in Budapest, Hungary, has been hard at work developing a text tool which enables teachers to transform text into stimulating classroom exercises in Microsoft Word. At present, you can use this tool to

randomize letters, words or paragraphs
create multiple-choice exercises
make cloze exercises
and more!

The tool takes three seconds to download from www.teachers-pet.org and does not need to be installed on your computer. Alternatively, you can email chris@teachers-pet.org, and he will send you a copy by e-mail (it is only 200Kb in size).
The site includes a unique one-click search tool for accessing teaching resources (news articles for children, idioms, famous quotes, pictures, and more) on a theme of your choice. There are also some helpful tips for those who would like to make better use of their computer!
