The samples below show a few ways in which clip art can be used to enhance your worksheets:
In addition, you can use the word list abctool to create and save word lists, which can then be used to create many of the worksheet types listed below. You can create word lists by either typing in your own words or choosing from a variety of pre-made lists. You can change, save, or delete any list you create. Most importantly, with the click of a button you can generate a number of different worksheet types using your word lists. As a result, it is easy to build a set of worksheets around a particular topic or theme. New! Handwriting WorksheetsA handwriting worksheet is a worksheet that helps students learn how to correctly form cursive and manuscript letters and words. Using the abcteach handwriting tool, you can create basic handwriting worksheets for practicing a few words, or you can create more advanced worksheets that give students more information about the strokes they need to use to correctly form letters, or that provide them with dots or outlines to guide them in writing correctly. Here are some examples of what the handwriting worksheet tool can do: ShapebooksA shapebook is a book that is in the shape of a particular object. The text of the book is printed inside of the shape. For example, you may have written something (a story, a poem, a series of facts...) about apples. Using the shape book builder at our member site, your text can be automatically formatted to fit inside of an outline in the shape of an apple (or whatever shape you choose). Cut out the outline and you have an apple-shaped book about apples! We have hundreds of shapes to choose from, including basic shapes, greeting card forms, seasonal items, and borders for all occasions. View the complete list of shapes to see all that is available. Here are some examples that show just a few types of shapebooks that our shapebook tool can be used to make:
Graduation certificate Word Walls
A word wall is a formatted list of words. Word walls can be printed in large letters, suitable for displaying on a wall for group instruction, or in smaller letters to create sentence strips and flash cards. Color may be used to highlight different letter combinations. Here are some examples of what the word wall tool can do:
Word Searches
A word search puzzle is a group of words hidden in a grid of random letters. Words may be hidden within the puzzle in any direction. Easier puzzles have shorter words and smaller grids, and limit the directions of the hidden words to 'left to right' and 'down'. Harder puzzles include longer words, larger grids, and words hidden in any direction. Puzzles typically include a list of the hidden words below the puzzle, and a puzzle solution showing the circled words. Word search puzzles built with the abcteach word search tool may be generated in standard rectangular sizes, or in a number of other available pre-formatted shapes. There are three difficulty levels to choose from, and puzzles may be printed in a variety of fonts, font sizes, colors, and border options. Here are some examples of what the word search tool can do:
Word Unscrambles
A word unscramble is a list of words and phrases whose letters have been mixed up. The words are followed by a writing prompt where the person solving the words may write the unscrambled word. The words are also numbered so that the scrambled words may be matched to the unscrambled words and phrases on a solution page. Word unscrambles can be used as a fun exercise for teaching language concepts such as letter sounds and spelling. Word unscrambles built with the abcteach word unscramble tool may be generated in a variety of fonts, font sizes, and colors. There are two difficulty levels to choose from. Here are some examples of what the word unscramble tool can do:
Crossword Puzzles
A crossword puzzle is a group of words that have been arranged horizontally and vertically so that each word crosses at least one other word at a common letter. The puzzle itself doesn't show the words, only the spaces where the words should be written. A list of numbered clues is matched to numbers placed in spaces on the puzzle where each word starts. Crossword puzzles are a fun way to practice spelling and reading comprehension, and to reinforce vocabulary. Crossword puzzles built with the abcteach crossword tool may be generated in custom sizes. Puzzles may be printed in a variety of fonts, font sizes, colors, and border options. Here are some examples of what the crossword puzzle tool can do:
New! Math Worksheets
A math worksheet is a set of related math problems. Solving the math problems may require simple arithmetic, algebraic, geometric, or statistical calculation, but one worksheet will typically present multiple variations of a single type of problem, so that students get practice with one particular mathematical operation or principle. The math worksheets at abcteach are organized into age-appropriate levels, covering topics from basic math concepts through geometry. A solution page is provided with every worksheet, no matter how simple or hard it is. Here are some examples of what the crossword puzzle tool can do: SudokuSudoku is a logic puzzle. It is typically presented as a square grid with 9 squares to a side. Thick grid lines emphasize each block of 9 squares. The grid is partially filled with the numbers 1 through 9. To solve the puzzle, the empty squares should be filled in so that each row, column, and block contain each of the numbers 1 through 9. There is only one correct answer. Either 4 square or 9 square sudoku can be created using the abcteach sudoku tool. A setting is available for difficulty. This difficulty level controls how many squares are initially filled in on your sudoku. Our sudoku may be fully, partially, or not hinted. They are available with both number and dot hinting, and the hinting style and percent may be changed without changing the puzzle. Every puzzle includes an answer page. Here are some examples of what the sudoku tool can do:
Word ShapesWord shape worksheets are useful for teaching students how to form letters correctly, how to place letters in a word properly relative to each other and to the baseline, and for spelling practice. For students who are just beginning to learn to write, simple worksheets present a word that can be copied directly into an adjacent word shape. A more advanced 'Word Shape Puzzle' requires students to match a scrambled list of words to their shapes. Both types of worksheet can be created using the word shape abctool. Word shape worksheets built with the abcteach word shape tool may be created in both the simple list format for spelling and writing practice, and in the puzzle format for word shape recognition. Here are some examples of what the word shape tool can do:
Spelling ListA spelling list is a list of words presented to students for spelling practice and study. Each word is followed by a space in which to practice writing the word. The list is numbered, so that students may be tested on their spelling proficiency after a period of study. The abcteach spelling list tool optionally includes a word bank listing the words for study, and a test page that includes the numbers and writing spaces, but not the words themselves. Here are some examples of what the spelling list tool can do:
ABC SortsAn ABC Sort is a list of words that teachers can use when they are teaching students to alphabetize words. There are two basic styles of worksheet: students either number a list of words in alphabetical order, or they take words from a word bank and write them in alphabetical order. With the abcteach ABC Sort tool, worksheets may be created in each of these styles so that words are either split into groups of 3 to 5 words for sorting, or all of the words in the list are to be sorted. Here are some examples of what the ABC Sort tool can do:
Missing LettersA missing letters worksheet is a list of words presented to students for spelling practice and word recognition. Each word is missing one or more letters. Students attempt to recognize the words and fill in the letters correctly. There may optionally be a word bank listing either whole words, or just the letters that are missing. Here are some examples of what the Missing Letters tool can do:
